Webjay - "Mellow Chat"
Thanks to a link from Seb here, I have now started toying around with a playlist of music that might be experienced by a distributed group while they are chatting. I'm not sure of the logistics yet - everyone has a second browser open and they hit "play" at the same time? Could people change the list? Add to it?

This is Lucas from Webjay. You'd have to have people hit the play button independently. You could arrange to have them all do it at them same via a back channel, but looser synchronization (similar to a mailing list) seems more natural.
One way to allow a group to have write access to the same playlist would be to have a wiki page that links to http://webjay.org/playthispage. Anybody could edit it, and the playthispage link would auto-create the playlist, incorporating changes as they happen.

That wiki+Play this page idea totally rules, Lucas.
It would be nice if a chatbot could indicate what is playing when a new song plays. This would enable people who are out of sync to get back on track.
So when are we going to schedule a chat and try this out?
