Back from the Road and my Blogging Hiatus
I had every intention of blogging while I was in England/Belgium and our one day trip to Paris. I thought I would blog from the KM4Dev workshop, post stories and pictures of my snippets of playing tourist. But my friends and colleagues kept me way too busy. The precious F2F time, liberal intake of beer and wine and very little sleep suggested that blogging was the last thing on my priority list.
Then I dropped my precious little laptop. In all the years of owning a laptop I have never done this. I have an external wireless card in my laptop and it landed on that, jamming it, killing the PCMCIA slot which is attached to the motherboard and disabling half my keyboard. A sad moment.
Upon return home I found out it would be at least $600 USD to fix it. So I've gotten a USB wireless card and a cheap external keyboard to make due while I go to Blogher next week, then it's a new laptop for me.
I have had a Fujitsu P series for nearly four years. Tiny, light and just right when I'm traveling. But light and small is just too darn expensive. A 1.5 pound difference is at least $700 more. So I'll probably go with something cheaper in the 4.1 lb range. It will be hard to leave my 3 pound baby. But so it goes.
I'll be putting pictures up on Flickr and some of the KM4Dev notes on the wiki.
But for now it is catch up and focus on work time. So my silence will continue a bit longer.
