The profession I was trained in expects a certain amount of failure, but the learnings are critically important. Picking the problem and the probability of learning from it was important. My thesis advisor used to say that if you were failing 70 percent of the time, you weren’t pushing your limits hard enough. If you were failing 95% of the time, your problems were too hard…
