I have a contribution! We’re a team of 10 and we are using Wrike [http://www.wrike.com] for our collaboration. The tool is now our e-mial replacement – as we can create tasks, group them in foulders, organize, assign and reassign. It’s very simple. The tool is really flexible – I think this is what I like best about it.
This comment is late to the game, but my work came very early, I wrote about it in 1991. This is the first essay to consider the subject ofr online community.

More recently I wrote a “online community toolkit” of my own for a project funded in 2017 by the World Bank.

John! Thank you for stopping by and sharing the links. I have spread your essay far and wide over the years! I have not updated the links on this toolkit in years. Maybe you are the messenger that I should do that. (SO MANY BROKEN links too!) Thanks again!
